Tasked with the creation of a collection based around the archetype of the “Little Black Dress”
The Little Black Dress regardless of the country, region or time has almost always been used by women to express a feeling, or transalte a struggle or specfic message. Therefore for this collection we studied the emanicipating LBD of Gabrielle Chanel in contrast with the protecting black dress of the Middle Eastern women at the same time period, which was worn to protect arabic women from colonizers male gaze. By combining East and West, Chanel’s tailoring and Middle Eastern Draping we created our interpretation of the Little Black Dress
